EY1 Term 1 RWI Home LearningÂ
Dear Parents and Carers,Â
A very warm welcome to you all, to EY1. It has been such a pleasure getting to know your children over the last two days. The children have certainly embraced Google Meets and Home Learning.Â
On Monday 17th August, we will begin RWI (Read, Write, Inc). Read Write Inc (RWI) is a phonics complete literacy programme which helps all children learn to read fluently and at speed so they can focus on developing their skills in comprehension, vocabulary and spelling (https://www.ruthmiskin.com/en/).Â
Your child has been placed into a small group with other members of the class (please note these groups have not been streamed) and they have been allocated a time between 9.30 – 10.30am from Monday to Thursday.Â
Our class Educational Assistants will be running these RWI sessions as they are an integral part of the RWI program at DBIS, and when in class they deliver the program daily to small groups of children. Class teachers will be present for each daily session and will observe the children’s phonics understanding and fluency with their reading. These RWI groups will remain fluid throughout the course of the term and are subject to change in order to best support your child’s reading progression.Â
