GOODWILL WEDNESDAY

WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 14TH: 3.10 PM

The Secondary School Habitat For Humanity ECA (information at the bottom) and the Year 5 and 6 Young Entrepreneurs are joining forces to ask for some festive support for the needy of Hong Kong this Christmas! On Wednesday 14th December from 3.10pm on the DBIS pitch, Year 5 and Year 6 will be selling a wide assortment of Christmas goodies, made out of recycled materials, that are perfect for HK stockings. Items include Christmas ornaments, handmade soaps, homemade candles and bottle-cap pins. Proceeds will be going to the extremely worthy causes of Impact HK, Plastic Free Seas, HK Down Syndrome Association and Forever Angels. At the same time, the Habitat for Humanity team will be selling baked Christmas goodies while three of our finest DBIS musicians perform top tunes to raise money for Habitat outside the school gates.

We would be so grateful if you could support our students and charities this Christmas with whatever you could spare.

THANK YOU AND MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Tanush Gupta, Mr Koenig, Ms Wilson and Ms Kavanagh

Habitat for Humanity?  Habitat for Humanity is a worldwide non-profit housing organization founded in 1976. Our vision is to give families in need decent and affordable means to live and survive. We have worked in around 70 countries and built and renovated more than 600,000 houses and are now in Hong Kong which is by far the most expensive city to live in Asia. The living conditions for the poorest families in Hong Kong are often deplorable and many people live in houses the size of a cage, or in tiny flats with no air conditioning. We are trying to take a small step in improving the conditions of Hong Kong families by renovating old social housing,  reviving old abandoned homes for government use and providing maintenance support. Kelly and Surbhi from the sixth form  Habitat student team have already spread information on Habitat for Humanity in respective assemblies in secondary and primary. Another fundraising event is planned in February called “The Great Habitat Relay”.
