Important Information Regarding Week Without Walls Attendance – Year 9

Dear Year 9 Parents,

The upcoming Week Without Walls (WWW) trip to Vietnam is a highly anticipated event, promising a rich cultural experience for our Year 9 students. We are excited for them to embark on this journey and are grateful to the families who have already confirmed their children’s participation or have communicated legitimate reasons for their absence.

We understand that some questions have arisen regarding attendance expectations for this trip. We want to provide clarity on this important matter and reiterate the significance of full participation in school activities, including Week Without Walls. This commitment was part of the admissions process and is essential for fostering the holistic development of our students.

Therefore, please be advised that if your child chooses not to attend the forthcoming WWW trip, it will be recorded as an unexcused absence unless you have already sent an email to the Head of Year outlining a legitimate reason for their absence. Choosing not to participate in the trip itself is not considered a legitimate reason. School attendance is not optional, and it is essential that our community clearly understands this.

Additionally, students who do not attend will not have any provision provided by the school during this week. We believe that opting out of this experience may hinder students from fully engaging in meaningful school experiences and building the resilience that supports their growth.

As we look ahead to Week Without Walls 2025–26, we want to reiterate that participation in these activities is an expectation for all students.

While we recognise that family circumstances can be complex, we are committed to working together to find solutions. We encourage all Year 9 students to embrace this opportunity for cultural exchange and personal growth.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we strive to provide enriching experiences for our students.

Regards,

Secondary Leadership Team
