Important Music Information for all Year 4 Parents/Guardians

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It was such a delight to present to our Year 4s last week during their Creative Arts Morning and share the news that all students in Year 5 will have instrument lessons next year. For those who weren’t able to join us, I have attached a recording of the session and I strongly recommend you make some time to watch it. It will explain to you the plans for next year and also has demonstrations of each of the instruments that will be offered then. The highlights are:

+Curriculum lessons will be reduced from 1 hour to 45 minutes.

+In addition to the 45-minute curriculum lesson, all children will have a 30-minute group lesson with a specialist instrument teacher.

+The school will loan an instrument to each student, and they will be asked to look after the instrument for four years (Years 5–8).

+Parents/guardians are asked to discuss with their children their preferred instrument – 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice.

+Children who already have lessons on an instrument are requested to pick a second instrument for this programme, or voice. Voice is not available for children who don’t currently learn an instrument.

+Parents/guardians are asked to complete this Jotform by 12th March (please note, the video says 27th February is the deadline, but 12th March is the correct date).

This is a very exciting time in the Music department, and we look forward to supporting your child in their musical, cognitive and emotional growth.  If you have any questions after watching the video, please email [email protected].

Best regards
