Key Stage 1 PANTS Programme

Dear Year 1 and Year 2 Families,

At DBIS we are extremely committed to supporting the social, emotional, psychological and physical development of all of our students. Coupled with this, our drive is to always provide the most robust and rigorous safeguarding and child protection procedures possible.

Our children started the PANTS programme in FS-2 (Reception) and continued the programme in Year 1 and Year 2. The programme builds on their prior learning experiences in each year group.

Key Stage 1 (Year 1 & Year 2) class teachers will be delivering the PANTS programme week commencing 28th October.

The teachers will deliver sessions using the PANTS framework created by the NSPCC. The sessions will focus on the following areas: discussions around what makes certain parts of our bodies private, good and bad secrets, body parts and their differences, and very early discussions around consent. The message is delivered that a child’s body belongs to them, and the students will be taught about the importance of having a “Network Hand” of trusted adults who they can speak to if they have a problem. There will be a series of activities to accompany the lessons on each topic which the children will carry out with their class teacher.
