Nursery and Reception library lending arrangements during school closure

Dear Parents

There are many little ways to enlarge your child’s world. Love of books is the best of all.” Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis

Welcome to the DBIS Library!

Our gateway to all things books and reading is the library’s website. Please take a few minutes to visit the site and familiarise yourself with it and the library catalogue.

At DBIS we have an ongoing commitment to promoting an ethos of reading for pleasure and learning in all of our students. Aside from enlarging your child’s world, reading and storytelling promotes brain development and imagination and teaches your child about language and emotions.

As such, we want to ensure our youngest students have ongoing access to a range of physical books.

Weekly borrowing to support your child

Parents of Nursery and Reception students are invited to request up to 2 library books each week to be included with their child’s home learning pack.

We can only provide books from the EY Library and these can be identified in the library catalogue by the call number prefix K (e.g. K DON, K SEALIFE, etc.).

Requests can be submitted anytime between 3pm Fridays and 3pm Tuesdays. Please consult the library catalogue and use this FORM to request books (you will also find the link to the form on the library’s website). It would be wonderful if you could actively involve your child in the searching and selection process.

Collection of home learning packs and library books will be between 11am and 1pm on Thursdays and Fridays at the DBIS EY campus. Please return the previous week’s library books when collecting the current week’s learning pack.

In the meantime, don’t hesitate to contact me on the email address below if you have any questions.

Best wishes
