Nursery Term 3

Dear Nursery Families,

We are looking forward to welcoming the children back in Term 3 for face-to-face teaching in the mornings subject to EDB approval. In our new unit of Discovery, we will be exploring Storytelling. If your child has a particular interest in a story, author or illustrator please let your class teacher know so we can incorporate this into our planning.

The Nursery School Day:

Subject to approval from the EDB & CHP, our Nursery school day will run in the mornings. Please see the link below for each class’s individual timetable. On your child’s PE day please ensure that they are wearing appropriate uniform. Please continue to keep a spare set of uniform, underwear and socks clearly labelled with your child’s name in their school bag in case of accidents or exuberant water play. In Forest School, we will be adding water to the provision, so please could your child bring a pair of labelled rain boots to school ready for our weekly sessions. Due to the nature of our extended school morning for all students and with the consideration of time for lunch and rest time (stipulated by the EDB) for our Nursery students, there will be no online element in the afternoons. If you feel your child will benefit from any additional material at home please speak to your child’s class teacher.

Nursery Daily Routine & Timetable Term 3 2021

Nursery Drop-Off and Pick Up Times:

To support social distancing and reduce congregation in shared areas, classroom doors will open for drop-off between 8:20am-8:30am. Likewise, at the end of the Nursery day, the gates will be open to collect your child between 12:30-12:45pm. Once your child has been collected we kindly ask that you leave the campus swiftly to avoid overcrowding.

Morning Tea (Snack):

During our Outdoor Experiences between 10am-10:45am classes will be on a 15 minute rotation of eating their Morning Tea in the hall. We will be providing fresh fruit & vegetables alongside a choice of a breadstick, cracker or rice cake. If you would like to bring in a small additional snack for your child please bring it in a container clearly labelled with your child’s name and class. If you choose to bring in an additional snack please place the container in the boxes provided at the start of the school day. You can also collect the container from the same box at the end of the day. If children are hungry later in the morning there will be opportunities for a breadstick or cracker. We therefore kindly ask that any additional snack is a small snack that children can eat within the designated time. Please also be aware that we are a Nut Aware school and we kindly ask that no products containing nuts are brought onto the school premises.

Education Bureau (EDB) and Centre for Health Protection (CHP) regulations:

To ensure the safety of the Nursery children and the Nursery Team we will continue to align with the policies from the EDB and CHP. Therefore it is essential that all children at school wear masks at all times on campus (other than designated snacks or drinking water). We kindly request that all masks are clearly labelled with your child’s name and spare masks are kept in their school bag. Your child’s temperature is to be taken and recorded prior to school arrival. The temperature card will be checked on the gate as you enter the EY campus and adults and children’s temperatures will be taken at the gate as you enter. We will continue to support children with washing and sanitizing their hands throughout the school day.

Parent Communication:

Please continue to regularly visit the DBIS Parent Hub and read the school bulletins, as important information and Nursery updates will be posted here. We continue to hold our ‘open-door’ policy, so please do not hesitate to get in contact. Should you wish to discuss your child’s learning or any sensitive issues in greater detail, please contact your child’s class teacher via the messaging function on the Seesaw Family App.

Thank you to all Nursery families for your continued support and resilience throughout this academic year. We are beyond proud and amazed at all our Nursery students’ engagement, enthusiasm and adaptivity during this challenging school year. We wish you all a wonderful Spring Break. To our families celebrating Easter, Holi and Passover, we hope you are able to enjoy the festivities. We look forward to seeing you all on Monday 12th April at 8:30am ready for a fun-filled term full of imagination, wonder and childhood.

Kind regards,

The Nursery Team
