Nut Free School

17th August 2018

Dear Parents

We have a few children in both Nursery and Reception with severe nut allergies.

The allergies are so severe that any contact with nut products (ingesting or indirect contact with someone who has touched or eaten nuts including pine nuts) will lead to an instant anaphylactic reaction requiring emergency medical intervention.

To ensure the safety of these children at school we need to insist on your cooperation in ensuring:-

  • We are a Nut Free School
  • Please do not send nut products to school with your child.
This includes nutella, peanut butter, fruit and nut bars, chocolate bars, pesto etc.

Please read packaging labels very carefully and discuss this with your helper or anyone else who may be involved in the preparation of your child’s lunch and/or snacks that may be brought to school.

If possible to avoid eating nut products before school. If this is unavoidable, please ensure your child washes his/her hands thoroughly with soap and water, clean his/her teeth, drinks a glass of water before they come to school and inform the class teacher upon arrival.
  • Any birthday celebration/party/shared lunch snacks must not contain nut products (or be processed in a plant handling nuts as indicated on food labels).

Please do not hesitate to discuss this with us if you have any questions.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
