Online and in school learning in EY2

Dear EY2 Families,

We are delighted to be welcoming our EY2 children back into school for more mornings after the Chinese New Year holidays. When the children are in school, they will need to arrive at school at 8:00am and the children will be picked up from their classrooms at 11:25-11:30am. The children will need to bring a hat, water bottle and snack to school.

Due to the increased time in school, our weekly class timetables have therefore been altered and can be found below. The links show you the timetables for each class for the week beginning 22nd February. We will give the children their other timetables for subsequent weeks on Monday 22nd February, when they come into school.

Please see details of the amendments to our timetables below:

Online Google Meet Maths and Writing Lesson

These lessons will continue to begin with a whole class introduction to the lesson. When appropriate, the children will be directed to a particular Seesaw activity and will be assigned a Google Meet link to a smaller group, if they are in need of further support. These small group sessions will begin from Monday 1st March.

EA small group optional drop in discussions

Following parent feedback, these small group, 5 minute sessions provide an opportunity for your child to speak to their class Educational Assistant about anything that interests them. These sessions are optional but provide an opportunity for your child to discuss their interests in a small group setting. The groups for these sessions will be communicated via the children’s Seesaw Class Timetable for Monday 22nd February.

Reading Books and Library Books

Library books and Class Readers will be given out on Tuesdays for the children to take home. We kindly ask that the children return their books to their class teacher on Tuesday mornings before receiving their new Class Readers and ‘lucky dip Library book.’

Oxford Owl Small Group Reading Lessons

These small group Reading lessons will continue to run next term in the afternoons. Any changes to the timings of these sessions will be communicated through Seesaw.

End of the day story

There will be a recorded Seesaw story available each day for the children to enjoy at their leisure.

Discovery Lessons

There will be a teacher taught lesson introduction for all online Discovery lessons to help explain and model the challenges to the children.

Wellbeing

During the week when we are in school together, we are going to ensure that we spend time focussing on the children’s wellbeing and include opportunities for reflection and collaboration through social games and Learning for Life circle time sessions.

Resource Packs

As the children are now in school more frequently, we will send the resources home with them at different times during the week, as necessary.

We really are looking forward to having a greater amount of time with our classes in school in Term 2.2. Once again, we thank you all your continued support and enthusiasm with our online learning programme and wish you all a lovely, relaxing holiday.

If you have any queries about any of the online learning amendments, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher.

Kind regards,

The EY2 Team
