Dear Parents/ Carers,
On behalf of the whole PTSA, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support and donations over the past year. Events like the second-hand uniform sales, Fame Jr and the PTSA-run bar could not have happened without the volunteers who stepped up, so a huge note of thanks to each and every person who generously volunteered their time.
Due to the amazing support of events held during this school year, including the Glitter Ball, the Christmas quiz night, the bingo night and second-hand uniform sales, we have been able to raise an outstanding amount of money this year. In total we raised close to HK$200,000. Every event was a sell out, and thanks to this wonderful support we were able to fund a number of items for school including:
- Purchase of bilingual library books
- Primary science and outdoor education supplies, including a garden shed, gardening and science equipment
- 4 table tennis tables
- 4 lion dance costumes and 1 dragon costume
- Funding for house spirit awards for all of the Secondary School
- Outdoor resources for EY1&2
- Board games for Secondary school rainy-day break times
- PE storageÂ
- Contributions made to both the Y6 & Y13 graduations
During the year, the PTSA also organsied a collection for the Poppy Appeal, sponsored a helper karaoke afternoon and also organised Christmas hot chocolates for all of the Secondary School.
The PTSA will be ending this school year with a free gelato or ice cream for all students this week – a mini celebration to acknowledge that we end the year fully free of all Covid restrictions and regulations.
We are in the process of planning events for the new academic year, and we are pleased to confirm that the food fair will be returning in 2024! We are also looking at holding an end-of-year ball, along with other smaller events during the year.
Before we begin on next year’s plans though, I would like to say a huge thank you to some PTSA members who will be leaving us this year. Rebecca Higgins, Susan Pearson & Fabiana Drew are all departing DBIS this year. A huge note of thanks for all the time and effort you have put into making the many PTSA events come to fruition. You will be missed.
If anyone would like to consider joining the PTSA, we would love to hear from you. We meet on the first Monday of each month after school and are always looking for new talents and skills (and pairs of hands!) to help us deliver events and to support school initiatives. If you may be even the tiniest bit interested, then please do get in touch via our email – [email protected]
Following our first meeting of next academic year, we will hold our AGM, where voting for the PTSA roles will take place. You are very welcome to attend and to take part in this process. More information will be provided at the beginning of term in August.
Wishing you all a wonderful summer break, and once again thank you for all the support this year.
Kind Regards,
Niamh Daniels
PTSA Chair
