Reception Term 3 Information

Dear Reception Families,

We are thoroughly looking forward to welcoming the children back in Term 3 for face-to-face teaching during our morning sessions. In our new unit of Discovery we will be exploring ‘Changes’. To launch our new unit we will start by looking at how we have changed. Please may we ask if you would kindly send in a baby photo of your child during the first week back.

The Reception School Day:

Subject to the approval from the EDB & CHP our Reception school day will run in the mornings from 8:30am-12:45pm. Please see attached images for each class’s individual timetable. On your child’s PE day please ensure that they are wearing the appropriate uniform. In Forest School, we will be adding water to the provision, so please could your child bring a pair of labelled rain boots to school ready for our sessions. Please continue to keep a spare set of uniform, underwear and socks clearly labeled with your child’s name in their school bag in case of accidents or exuberant water play.

Due to the nature of our extended school morning for all students and with the consideration of time for lunch, our children will have the option of an optional online activity during the afternoon. This will include an extra PE session, story time, Mandarin, a bi-weekly Music session and Assembly which will now take place on a Friday. The afternoon activity will be linked to the virtual classroom on Seesaw which will be uploaded on Sunday 11th April at 5pm.

Reception Drop-Off and Pick Up Times:

To support social distancing and reduced congregation in shared areas, classroom doors will open for drop-off between 8:20am-8:30am. Likewise at the end of the day, the gates will be open to collect your children between 12:30-12:45pm. Once your child has been collected we kindly ask that you leave the campus swiftly to avoid overcrowding.

Morning Tea (Snack):

During our Outdoor Experiences, Reception classes will be on a 15 minute rotation to eat their Morning Tea in the hall. We will be providing fresh fruit & vegetables alongside a choice of a breadstick, cracker or rice cake. If you would like to bring in a small additional snack for your child please bring it in a container clearly labelled with your child’s name and class. If you choose to bring in an additional snack please place the container in the boxes provided outside your child’s classroom at the start of the school day. You can also collect the container from the same box at the end of the day. If children are hungry later in the morning there will be opportunities for a breadstick or cracker. We therefore kindly ask that any additional snack brought in, is a small snack that children can eat within the designated time. Please also be aware that we are a ‘Nut Aware’ school and we kindly ask that no products containing nuts are brought onto the school premises.

Education Bureau (EDB) and Centre for Health Protection (CHP) regulations:

To ensure the safety of the Reception children and the Reception Team, we will continue to align with the policies from the EDB and CHP. Therefore, it is essential that all children at school wear masks at all times on campus (other than designated snacks or drinking water). We kindly request that all masks are clearly labeled with your child’s name and spare masks are kept in their school bag. Your child’s temperature is to be taken and recorded prior to school arrival. Temperature card will be checked on the gate as you enter the EY campus and adults and children temperatures will be taken at the gate as you enter. We will continue to support children with washing and sanitizing their hands throughout the school day.

Parent Communication:

We continue to hold our ‘open door’ policy, so please do not hesitate to get in contact. Should you wish to discuss your child’s learning or any sensitive issues in greater detail, please contact your child’s class teacher via the messaging function on Seesaw.

The DBIS Parent Hub will continue to be updated with school bulletins and you will find all important Reception information and updates there.

We cannot thank you enough for your constant support and interaction over this challenging year; we feel extremely grateful. We would like to take this opportunity to again express how proud we are of the children and how incredibly adaptable and positive they have all been. The resilience and strength they have shown is outstanding. We look forward to seeing you all on Monday 12th April at 8:30am ready for a fun-filled term full of imagination, wonder and childhood.

We hope you have a wonderful spring break to those of you celebrating Easter, Holi and Passover, we hope you enjoy the festivities.

Team Reception,

Charlotte Phillips, Emma Chambers, Helen Reid and Chloe Foster
