Dear Parents,
Following an extremely successful start to our phonics program in Reception, we are delighted to share with you an exciting next step for your children. As you are aware, the teaching in Early Years at DBIS is very much tailored to meet the individual needs of all children and we feel our phonics teaching should be no different. Â
With this in mind, this week children will access RWI sessions in new, smaller groups with a mixture of children from across the Reception cohort. This allows your child to be taught by a range of staff and to learn alongside friends from different classes with a shared focus for next steps in learning. To ensure children’s individual needs are always a focus, children may move between groups over time, allowing them to be taught with appropriate targets in mind.Â
We would like to thank you for your ongoing support of our RWI program, especially the time spent at home revisiting the speed sounds and red words taught so far. Â
