The American Mathematics Competitions AMC10 & AMC12

Dear parents of students in Grade 10 (Year 11) and under, as well as Grade 12 (Year 13) and under!

We invite your children to showcase their mathematical prowess by participating in the prestigious American Mathematics Competitions (AMC).

Put your problem-solving skills to the test, engage in friendly competition, and unlock exciting opportunities in the world of mathematics.

The AMC 10 and AMC 12 are both 25-question, 75-minute, multiple-choice examinations in high school mathematics designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem-solving skills.

The AMC 10 is for students in Year 11 and below and covers the high school curriculum up to Year 11. Students in Year 11 or below and under 17.5 years of age on the day of the contest can take the AMC 10. The AMC 12 covers the entire high school curriculum, including trigonometry, advanced algebra, and advanced geometry, but excluding calculus. Students in Year 13 or below and under 19.5 years of age on the day of the contest can take the AMC 12.

The AMC 10/12 provide an opportunity for high school students to develop positive attitudes towards analytical thinking and mathematics that can assist in future careers. This is the first in a series of competitions that eventually lead all the way to the International Mathematical Olympiad (see Invitational Competitions).

THESE are the details.

Both the A and B versions of the AMC 10 and AMC 12 have the same number of questions, the same scoring and the same level of difficulty and distribution of topics. The only differences are the competition dates and the distinct sets of questions.

If your child is eager to participate in this exciting competition, we kindly request an exact cash payment of HK$75 for the online challenge to be made to Joey Lee by Tuesday 7th November. Undoubtedly showcasing mathematical achievements will serve to greatly enhance your child’s resume and open doors to future opportunities.

Best regards
