Welcome to Term 2 in Year 4

Dear Parents,

Welcome back! We hope you and your children had a wonderful and restful break together after an action-packed Term 1 learning about systems in our ‘Mind & Body’ unit and expression in our ‘Visual Representation’ unit.

We are now embarking on Term 2, which looks set to be as equally busy and fun-filled as the last Term.

In Discovery this term, the children will be addressing the question, ‘What can WE do to save the world?’. In line with this, in English, we will be looking at Jeannie Baker’s ‘Belonging’ text to help inspire us to make positive changes locally. We will also be taking inspiration from the great Sir David Attenborough and creating our own documentaries about Lantau’s endangered animals.

For further details regarding the ‘Can We Save The World?’ Discovery Unit as well as an overview of the whole curriculum for this year, please see the Curriculum Handbook and Transition Booklet linked below:

Please ensure you continue to discuss your child’s learning with them. Much of their work is recorded within their Google Drive, Classroom and on Seesaw.

With regards to homework, we will be continuing with our regular system and schedule of:

  • Home Learning set on a Friday through our Home Learning books, to be completed for the following Friday.
  • Reading each night. Children are to record the title of their book and the pages that they read in their diaries on a daily basis. Please can you, as parents, sign this too.
  • Maths and spelling practice are available through TTRockstars, Mangahigh and Spelling Shed.

Year 4 Celebration of Learning – Thursday 13th June, 2024

On Thursday 13th of June, we will have a Celebration of Learning in Year 4. This will be showcasing the children’s products created during their Young Entrepreneurs unit of learning.

We look forward to seeing you all there.

Please find here a link to other Key Dates for Year 4.

This will be a fantastic Term full of learning for Year 4. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.

Kind regards,
