Dear Parents/Guardians and Students of Year 8,
Welcome back; I trust you all had a nice and relaxing spring break. I’d like to take this opportunity to outline some key dates, events and foci for the upcoming Term 3.
- 01.05.2025, 02.05.2025 & 05.05.2025 – Public/school holidays
- 06.05.2025 – 12.05.2025: Year 7–9 end-of-year assessments
- 19.05.2025 – Greenbird Award – evidence deadline
- 11.06.2025: STEAM Day
- 17.06.2025: Secondary Awards Ceremony
- 23.06.2025: Discovery Project Showcase (Provisional)
- 27.06.2025: Half day & end of term
Next week’s assembly will cover study skills techniques which students can implement in their revision prior to the assessment window. I trust the students will use this opportunity to refine their study skills before they embark on their IGCSE courses next term.
In addition to these, Year 8 students will submit their Greenbird Award evidence by 19th May in a bid to receive their award before the end of the term. I advise students to try and submit this earlier to mitigate any gaps in their logs.
This term, Year 8 students will be refining their oracy and presentation skills to a large audience; in small groups, they will be delivering a presentation to the whole year group on a topic of their choice.
