Welcome to Year 4 2022–23

Dear Parents,

We are delighted to be welcoming our DBIS children back to the Primary School for the academic year 2022–23. To our new families, welcome! We are delighted your children will be joining our community.

The Year 4 teaching team are very much looking forward to learning with your children this year. There will be a great deal of collaboration, and challenge, with opportunities for independence and experiential learning.

In Year 4, our learning journey will be led through exciting Discovery Units, extending the children’s knowledge, skills and understanding in a Mastery approach in Reading, Writing, Maths and Science. This year, our Discovery Units will explore concepts related to ‘Learning to Learn’, ‘Body and Mind’, ‘Visual Representation’, ‘Can We Save the World?’ and ‘Young Entrepreneurs’.

We also have a wealth of opportunities planned to develop your child’s creativity, resilience, and ability to collaborate and think in dynamic ways. These include Forest and Beach Schools, museum visits, year-group hikes, collaborating on movie-making, and website creation.

The teaching team are very much looking forward to meeting with you all during the Parent–Teacher Conferences on Thursday 25th and Friday 26th August. To enable us to focus on your child, please find below a link to an introduction to your class teacher and Year 4. We hope this will provide you with further insight into your child’s year.
