World Down Syndrome Day 2024

Thursday 21st March is World Down Syndrome Day, and the theme for 2024 is ‘End the Stereotypes’. DBIS would like to raise awareness and celebrate our diversity as a whole school.

We’re launching the ‘Lots Of Socks’ campaign by asking the whole school to wear their craziest, most mismatched, colourful and fun socks on 21st March. The idea is to get noticed, start a conversation about World Down Syndrome Day and share everything you know about Down Syndrome.

In the week leading up to the day, we also plan to have students complete a variety of activities in their classes – create posters, watch videos, engage in discussions, share a ‘Lots of Socks’ selfie on social media and post photos of their craziest or mismatched socks to a Padlet page. We may even have a ‘Best socks’ competition!

The UN Global Goals Club (Year 4 – Year 6) will be sharing this information with Primary children in assembly on Friday 15th March, aligning it with the Sustainable Development Goal 10 – Reduced Inequalities.

Best wishes,

Learning Enhancement Team
