Dear Parents,
We write to you with exciting news; the children in Year 4 will be participating in a two-night camp in February.
Accommodation
The camp will take place from Monday 17th February to Wednesday 19th February at Breakthrough Village Camp, Sha Tin.
The children will sleep in residential dormitories of up to six children per room. We will be asking for them to request chosen friends nearer the time of the camp. Although we cannot guarantee that they will be with all of their friends, we can guarantee that they will be with at least one.
Activities
Over the three days there, each child will have the opportunity to take part in each of these activities:
- Hiking Through History: Children will be taken on a historical hike through tunnels used by soldiers during the war.
- Coastal Kayaking: Children will kayak out to the waters of Tai Mei Tuk to examine the biodiversity of its mangroves.
- Farm To Table: Children will visit the Fu Kum Organic farm not only to take part in some sustainable farming methods but also to prepare simple dishes using the farm’s produce.
There will also be lots of activities and games planned for them back at base camp, as well as a chance to relax and rest.

- transportation arrangements
- food
- what to bring
If you have any specific questions that you would like to be addressed outside of those listed above, please email your class teacher.
Permission
Please complete this Jotform to give permission for your child to attend this trip, by Friday 22nd November.
Camps have always been such an integral part of our experiential curriculum at DBIS as they provide children with an opportunity to gain more independence, create deeper bonds with friends, build self-esteem and confidence and have a great deal of fun. We are very much looking forward to taking your child on this wonderful trip!
Kind regards,
The Year 4 Team
