Year 1 DTaP Vaccination Clinic

Dear Parents of Year 1 Students,

The Department of Health will come to our school on Friday 29th November 2024 to administer a vaccination with Combined Diphtheria, Tetanus, acellular Pertussis and Inactivated Polio (DTaP-IPV) to eligible Year 1 students. The department’s Immunisation Team will also check the immunisation records of the students for any history of BCG vaccination. Those students aged 15 years or under without a history of BCG vaccination will be referred to the Chest Clinic for optional further management.

The Department of Health has advised that:

  • All Year 1 students should receive the above immunisation even if they have received a booster dose at a younger age. However, if your child has received the booster at or after four years of age, he/she would not be required to receive this vaccination again.
  • Students who have health problems should consult their family doctor before receiving this vaccine.

The CHP School Immunisation Team requires several weeks of preparation leading up to the immunisation date. Therefore, we ask that your child’s completed form be submitted directly to the medical room along with their original immunisation records/booklet before Friday 15th November.

In addition, please supply a copy of one of the following documents:

  • Hong Kong Birth Certificate
  • HKID Card
  • Adoption Certificate
  • Document of Identity for Visa Purposes
  • Exemption Certificate
  • Permit to Remain in HKSAR
  • Identity/Travel Documents – PRC
  • Identity/Travel Document – Overseas
  • One-way, Two-way and/or Re-entry Permit
  • HKSAR Passport

Please be assured that these documents will be kept securely in the medical room. After the vaccination is given on Friday 29th November, all original records/booklets will be returned to a parent or guardian after school.

This vaccination is a parental option. Although our health and first aid coordinators support our students, some students who are particularly fearful may feel more comfortable with an individual visit to their family doctor.

If you have any queries please contact the DBIS medical room team on 2284 3005 or at [email protected].

Yours Sincerely,

Kate Yarnall & Jess Peeters
