Year 11 – A Level Option Blocks and Mock Examination arrangements

Dear Parents,

Having recently received early subject preferences from the students, we are pleased to share the final options blocks for the A-Level 2021-2023 programme. The blocks can be accessed in the revised version of the A-Level & BTEC Level 3 Options 2021-23 HERE.

We have endeavoured to meet the desired subject combinations of the cohort, however, in a small number of instances it has not been possible to provide all students with their preferred 3 or 4 subjects.

Students are expected to select three subjects, each one from a different option block. For example, a student may opt for Biology (Block 1), Geography (Block 2) and English Literature (Block 3). Some may wish to choose 4 subjects, but with this comes a significant increase in workload and should be carefully considered after conversations with respective teachers.

Final option choices open on Thursday 29th October. The Jot-Form for the final choices will also be sent on this date, via email.

I would also like to make you aware of a forthcoming event pertaining to the options process; the Online Parent Q&A Session with Subject Specialists. This will take place on Wednesday 28th October. The Google Meet codes for the Subject Q&A sessions, along with additional details, will be shared via email by Tuesday 27th October. The sessions will be split according to blocks with each block being allocated 20 minutes.

Mock Examination arrangements:

The Mock Examination process has now been revised. We will hold official Mock Examinations, with study leave, prior to the Easter break in 2021 (dates tbc). However, we will still have an  ‘Examination Week’ from 16th – 20th November. This will be used to gather valuable attainment data and will take place during lessons that week. Students have been notified of this.

If you have any questions or queries in relation to any of the above information please do not hesitate to reach out.

Kind regards,

Tom Lemon ([email protected])
