Year 3 ‘Active Planet’ Hike

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As part of our learning about the Earth’s landforms and processes, Year 3 will hike to explore the local environment as an entry point to spark curiosity for our new unit of Discovery. It will provide a firm foundation for the academic content of the unit, and it links beautifully with our first key text, A Pebble in My Pocket, by Meredith Hopper.

The hike will be within Discovery Bay, using the stairs near school and ascending to the pagoda area.

Dates
Tuesday 9th April: 3AR and 3BW
Wednesday 10th April: 3KT and 3EJ

Logistics:
Please send your child to school in their PE Kit for a prompt 8.25am registration on the day. Please ensure they have a small backpack containing;
– extra water
– hat
– bug spray
– sunscreen
– spare socks
– a slightly larger snack than normal
– grippy trainers or hiking shoes
– Octopus for the return bus ride

Class teachers would love to welcome two parent volunteers per class to assist us on the hike. Should you be interested in joining, please do get in touch with your child’s teacher.

We look forward to an exciting and curiosity-inducing hike! Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.
