Year 3 Recorder Karate in Music

Dear Year 3 Parents,

Year 3 Recorder Karate

Welcome back everybody! We would like to inform you that students in Year 3 will start the year embarking on a new journey of learning to play the recorder. We will be using the ‘Recorder Karate’ series as a guide.

We will be linking the pieces we will be using in class via a Recorder Karate Google Classroom. Your child’s class teacher will give students the code for access.

Although we do have one class set of recorders to use throughout the topic, we would prefer to keep these as spares. In the interest of personal hygiene, we recommend that you purchase a recorder that is for your child’s use only. The class sets we have at school will be thoroughly disinfected after each music lesson ready for the following week.

Recorders are available to purchase from the DBIS School Shop at a cost of $40.

Please ensure that your child’s recorder is clearly labelled (both recorder and bag if present) and cleaned thoroughly each week after use.

We will be starting ‘Recorder Karate’ on Tuesday 3 September 2019.

We hope this will be the start of an exciting new adventure to inspire students in learning a woodwind instrument, or indeed any orchestral instrument in the future. We look forward to seeing your child developing their music skills each week.

Yours Sincerely,

Scott Welcomme, Kaytie Harding, Daniela Poon & Katherine Shaw
