Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am pleased to inform you that Year 6 will be embarking on an outdoor learning expedition to DB North Plaza Beach. This trip serves as a vital link to our current Discovery unit on ‘Migration’ while providing students with an opportunity to apply the practical skills developed during our Forest School sessions.
Trip Schedule
- Thursday 19th March: Classes Y6MP and Y6SK
- Friday 20th March: Classes Y6RA and Y6HK
- Departure: 8.30am
- Return: Approximately 2.30pm
Learning Objectives
During this immersive visit, students will step into the shoes of early migrants, working in collaborative teams to simulate the challenges of founding a new civilisation in an unfamiliar landscape.
Kit List & Preparation
To ensure the safety and comfort of the students during outdoor activities, please ensure your child is wearing their PE kit and arrives with sunscreen and mosquito repellent already applied.
Students must bring the following in a rucksack:
- A large water bottle (plus extra for a full day outdoors).
- A snack and a healthy packed lunch.
- Trainers are mandatory for all activities to ensure ankle support and safety on uneven terrain. Please do not send your child in flip-flops or sliders.
- A sun hat and a lightweight waterproof/rain jacket.
- Personal sunscreen and mosquito spray for reapplication.
- A small, lightweight towel (to sit on).
Permission
Please confirm your child’s participation by completing the Annual Local Trip Consent Form by Friday 13th March.
We look forward to an engaging and insightful day of discovery at the beach.
Kind regards,
Mike Peacock
Head of Year 6
