Dear Parents,
We are thrilled to welcome your child to Year 1 at Discovery Bay International School. In preparation, the children will be engaging in many opportunities linked to transition within their classroom. In addition to this, we have planned two events to support the process of transition.
Stay & Play – Wednesday 19th June: This event is specifically designed for current FS-2 students who will be moving to Year 1 at DBIS and for new students joining Year 1 in August 2024.
Session 1: 3.30pm – 3.50pmÂ
Session 2: 4.10pm – 4.30pm
Parents and children are invited to a 20-minute Stay & Play in their new Year 1 classroom. This session will be split into two halves. FS-2 students will be informed two weeks before the event which session to attend.
We ask that you arrive at your session time and wait by the Year 1 gate at the Main Campus (this is next to the pagoda in the car park). You will then be informed which class your child will be joining next academic year. Please be aware that you may not be able to meet your child’s new class teacher if they are not based in Hong Kong at present. You will be welcome to join your child for their Stay & Play.Â
DBIS Moving On Up Morning: Friday 21st June 9am – 10am
Moving On Up Morning is a whole-school transition event for DBIS students. This is an opportunity for students to visit their new classroom, meet their classmates and get to know their new teachers if they are currently here in Hong Kong. Teachers that are joining us in August will have prepared a video introduction for the children which will be shared with the class.Â
If your child is leaving DBIS at the end of the academic year, they will enjoy participating in a ‘Good Goodbye’ session, celebrating their time at the school and thinking ahead to their exciting next adventure.
All FS-2 students are to be dropped off at the DBIS Main Campus in the undercover area, where they will be met by their FS-2 class teacher. Class teachers will support children in moving to their new classroom. We kindly ask that all FS-2 students be dropped off by 8.40am and that all parents and caregivers leave the campus promptly by 8.45am.
We look forward to supporting your children through these exciting activities. Please do not hesitate to contact a member of the FS-2 team if you have any questions.
Best wishes
