Borrowing books from the Early Years library

Dear Parents

We are so pleased to inform you that books can once again be requested from the Early Years library.

Should you request books, these will be added to your child’s activity pack for collection on Tuesdays 1-2:30 pm on the EY campus. The first bundle of requested books will be sent home on 19th January.

To request books, visit the library website (https://library.dbis.edu.hk) and locate the request form specific to Nursery & Reception Families. We recommend you have the library website open in one tab in your browser, the request form open in another tab and then cut and paste book details from the catalogue into the form. To ensure books make it into the next week’s activity packs, requests need to be submitted Sunday evenings at the latest.

Our library catalogue lists resources held across the entire school so be sure to only request those resources held in the Early Years Library (cross campus lending is not available). Early Years Library resources can be identified in the catalogue by the call number prefix K. For example, the EY Library’s copy of The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson will have the call number K DON.

To facilitate book selection, we have set up the Visual Search feature on the library website. Click on Visual Search (one of the options running across the top of the library website) – click on Nursery and Reception (blue box) – click on a topic of your choosing. Once you find a book to your liking, simply cut and paste the relevant details into the online form. Book selection is a really fun and important activity you can do with your child. It can involve looking at book covers, reading blurbs and discussing their reading interests.

If you have any questions about this service, please don’t hesitate to contact me on the email address below. We look forward to receiving your requests.

Kind regards
