Congratulations to our students on their excellent IGCSE 2022 results

Dear DBIS students and their families,

It is with great pleasure that I write to you about our students’ excellent IGCSE results. With 38% of all IGCSE qualifications being graded as an A* (or equivalent level 8 or 9), along with 56% of IGCSE qualifications being graded at least a grade A (or equivalent level 7), our students have performed extremely well in their IGCSEs. Please note for reference that these results are even better than the fantastic IGCSE results achieved by our students last academic year. In addition to this, we had 89% of our IGCSE results being awarded at least a grade C (or equivalent level 4), which demonstrates that across each area of our broad curriculum, every one of the IGCSE students at DBIS has excelled. Our results are particularly impressive as this is the first year since 2019 that all IGCSE qualifications have been examined in the traditional manner; while overall global figures reflect a notable drop in grades this year, DBIS has bucked that trend and excelled.

Our Head of School, Mr Stuart Bridge, shared his delight at our children’s excellent grades, saying: “everyone at DBIS is incredibly proud of our students’ exceptional IGCSE results. Our students’ success in their IGCSEs clearly demonstrates their hard work and commitment, as well as the tailored support and guidance that our inspirational teachers offer to them. We are delighted for every single one of them!”

It is truly remarkable that 36% of our students gained a minimum of eight A and/or A* grades (or equivalent levels 7–9) in their IGCSEs. This is particularly impressive when compared to our strong results from last year, when 28% of students achieved the same. With 17% of our students gaining ten A and/or A* grades (or equivalent levels 7–9), there are clearly many individual successes. I am delighted to share a few of the many sets of incredible results from this summer’s exams with you here.

I would like to start with four students who gained a truly exceptional A* grade (or equivalent) in all ten of the IGCSEs that they took this summer: Lisa Convey, Claire-Elise Fritsch, Surbhi Joshi and Katie Seager. Next, I would like to recognise Rianna Tilbrook and Sophia Toong, who both achieved an A* or equivalent in eight of their IGCSE qualifications, along with A grades in their remaining two subjects. I would also like to share a special mention to Aarushi Sharma for being awarded an A* or equivalent in nine IGCSEs and Cliona Chan for gaining an A* or equivalent in eight IGCSEs this summer.

There are so many other students who have achieved absolutely incredible results this summer, and I would like to take this opportunity to commend each and every one of them.

I am sure you will join me in congratulating all of our students on their amazing achievements, which they should all be particularly proud of.

Kind regards,

Simon Oakley
