EY1 – Forest Schools

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are extremely excited to be continuing the Forest Schools journey and extending this into EY1.

Forest School is an inspirational concept providing learning opportunities through hands on experiences in an outdoor environment. Children enjoy the freedom to explore and experience the natural world in all seasons and in all weathers. Forest School embraces an approach of nurturing, supporting and developing the self-esteem of all children and their needs. It is an ideal environment in which to develop innovation and skills such as, problem solving, risk taking, creativity and teamwork.

The Forest School sessions will be led by your child’s class teacher on a weekly basis. The safety and welfare of the children participating in Forest School is paramount and therefore all tasks are age-appropriate and risk assessments have been carried out for all experiences prior to the sessions.

To allow the children to participate fully the correct clothing is essential for Forest Schools. All participants need to bring: wellie boots and a raincoat.

Please ensure these items are clearly named and brought to school weekly on the following days starting from next Monday 2nd September:

EY1AC and EY1MF – Monday

EY1JB and EY1GC – Thursday

If you have any questions about Forest Schools, please contact Mrs Cook or your child’s class teacher.

Kind regards,

The EY1 Team
