Welcome back and Happy New Year! We hope you all had a lovely, relaxing break. We would also like to take this opportunity to say a special welcome to our new students joining EY2 this term.
This letter has some information about this term and some important dates for your diaries.
Homework will begin again this week. Home reading books and Manga High homework will continue as in Term 1.
Spelling Homework – Optional Extra Challenge
Spelling Homework will also continue as in Term 1. The children will continue to bring a list of words home each Monday and are asked to practise their words in two different ways. This is due in on Thursdays. They are then quizzed on their words on Fridays. As always, please feel free to add challenge words to your child’s spelling list. These words could be identified by your child themselves, through their reading.
As an optional extra challenge this term, the children can also write a Super Sentence into their spelling homework book, using one of the words from their spelling list.
If your child would like to do this extra challenge, please ask them to write their Super Sentence into their homework book. Your child’s class teacher will then give them a target each week to help them further improve. These targets will link to our class Writing Secrets (writing skills that we learn in class).
Hong Kong Wetland Park Excursions
This term our Discovery Unit is ‘Live and Let Live.’ This unit is all about different habitats. To support the children’s learning, we will be going on an excursion to the Hong Kong Wetlands.
EY2ES and EY2HR will visit the Wetland Park on Monday 10th February and EY2KW and EY2HG will go on Wednesday 12th February.
Please see the separate letter on the Hub for more information on this trip.
EY2 Celebration of Learning – Thursday 2nd April
Between 14:00-15:00, you are invited to come along to the Globe and enjoy watching the children present some of their learning from the term.
Attached to this letter is a Curriculum Overview for Term 2 which contains information regarding your child’s learning this term.
If you have any queries or questions about any of the above, please do come and ask.
