EY2 Welcome to Term 3

Dear EY2 Families,

We hope you all had a relaxing spring break and that the children are feeling refreshed and ready for their return to learning. We are delighted to be welcoming the children back into school on Tuesday 19th April! Please see the information below regarding learning in EY2 in Term 3.

Morning Routine

The school day will be the same as before the school closure. The school gates will open at 8:20am, with classroom doors opening at 8:25am. The day will end at 3:10pm, when the children will be dismissed as usual from their classroom.

All adults are now required to scan the ‘Leave Home Safe’ App to enter the school campus and must have proof of at least one vaccination.

Please ensure your child’s temperature card is filled out each morning before school, ready to show their teacher at the classroom door. On Tuesday 19th April, we will give the children their new temperature cards, which they will fill in at school on this day.

The children will need to wear their mask to school and bring a spare, named one in their bag. They will also need to bring their school sun hat each day. Reading and Library books will continue to be given out on the same days as before the school closure. The children will need to bring their Library and Reading folders into school on the appropriate days. Please can reading diaries also be brought into school on Reading days so that these can be checked and the iReads counted once a week.

Dismissal Routine

Please ensure that the three specified adults for collection have their ‘Pick Up Card’ at the end of the day to show your child’s teacher. As before the closure, if the cards are not presented at the classroom door, the children will have to be signed out at the office before collection.

World Book Week

The first week back after the spring break is ‘World Book Week’. The focus for this year’s Book Week will be Global Goals. To celebrate the week, the children are invited to dress up as a book character on Friday 22nd April. They can also bring their favourite book to school on this day to share with their class.

The children will receive their banded home reading book in Week 2 of the term.

Writing
:

– Write for a range of purposes
– Re-read their writing to check sense, spelling, grammar and punctuation
– Read aloud what they have written with appropriate intonation to make the meaning clear
– Use the present and past tenses correctly and consistently
– Use familiar and new punctuation correctly

Discovery:

We will be starting our brand-new EY2 Discovery Unit this term: ‘Investigators in Action!’ The conceptual Lens for this unit will be ‘Innovation’.

Through this unit the children will have the opportunity to investigate some of the world’s greatest inventions and will even have the chance to design and innovate their very own idea for how they can make improvements to our world.

We really are looking forward to having the children back in our classrooms after the spring break and are excited for the term ahead.

Kind regards,

The EY2 Team
