Introduction Letter – Mónica Zapater

Dear Parent or Guardian,

I am delighted to introduce myself as the Spanish Teacher of your child this year.

Although I am originally from Peru, I have studied and worked in several countries, before moving to Hong Kong in 2009.  I studied Business Management in Peru. After working in finance for a few years, I decided to gain international experience. My passion for learning about different languages and cultures took me to Germany for six months and then to Rome for almost a year. After travelling throughout Europe, I moved to Madrid to study a Masters Degree in Finance and Economics. I worked in Madrid as a Project Adviser for 3 years.

In 2006 I moved to New Zealand where I completed my Post- Graduate Diploma as a secondary school teacher and worked as a Spanish Teacher.  In 2009 I moved to Hong Kong with my husband. Since then I have held a variety of teaching roles. I worked as a Spanish Curriculum Coordinator in ESF Learning Center and most recently I have been a Private Spanish Teacher and a Supply Teacher in Discovery Bay International School.

I  spread my passion for different languages and cultures to my students, especially for the Spanish and Latinamerican culture. I believe that learning about other cultures and languages brings people together and gives our students a better understanding of our international community. I love being part of the ongoing learning journey of my students.  I love nature, good food and spending time with my friends and family. I have two children. In my spare time I enjoy exercising, especially doing High Intensity Training workouts, handcrafts and reading. I love travelling and learning about different cultures.
