Dear Parents/Guardians
We are delighted about the return of ECA’s from Monday the 6th of September. This will include the use of the pitch for various sporting activities throughout the year before school starts which will require a change to the current routine.
The pitch will be used for sporting activities before school, which will make it very difficult to enter through the current side gate onto the pitch before 8:05 am.
As most students are not required to be in school until at least 8:05 am, we would encourage students to arrive from then and ideally before 8:20 am to ensure that they have enough time to have their temperature taken and temperature cards checked (in-line with EDB requirements) and comfortably drop anything off in their lockers before the start of tutor time at 8:25 am.
We understand that some students will need to arrive at school before 8:05 am for a variety of reasons – such as a morning ECAs, they may have 1-1 tutoring at 8 am, or they are travelling from outside of Discovery Bay. These students are welcome to come into the school through the main entrance at these times.
Students will be informed of the changes in assembly, tutor time and via Google Classroom.
The Gazebos are set up on the path by the Astroturf pitch (at the end closest to the main entrance/gate) by the Amah’s prior to 7:50 am.
Students who arrive between 7:50 and 8:05 am will come through the main entrance and down the path.
Students who arrive between 8:05 and 8:25 am will come through the side/pitch entrance and across the pitch (fences will be out to remind students where to go).
We are proactive outside the school between 7:50 and 8:05 am in guiding the students down the path rather than through the pitch entrance/gate.
