Nursery Parent Seesaw Information Session

Dear Parents,

We would like to inform you that we use a digital platform called Seesaw to document your child’s learning journey at DBIS. Seesaw is a secure online system that is used to document learning achievements in class. Your child’s teacher will be able to share observations with you, and your child will also be able to use Seesaw to independently capture their own favourite learning moments and share them with you. Observations will include photos, videos and written comments. They will be recorded regularly and you will be able to set notifications on your device to inform you when a new observation has been added. Seesaw is used across the Early Years and Primary school, which means that your child’s learning portfolio will move with them right through to Year 6.

Only you and those you give permission to, for example, grandparents, will be able to view your child’s learning portfolio. At times, you will see other children in observations, particularly when they have been working collaboratively and the post has been shared in multiple journals. To ensure the appropriate safety measures are in place for all the children, we trust that you understand that you should not take the photographs from Seesaw to use on any social media sites, particularly where other pupils appear in photographs.

In order to access Seesaw, we will send you an email on Friday 10th September which will give you all the necessary instructions to login to view your child’s portfolio. This email will be sent to the same email address that you use for all school communications. Please check your email account carefully, including your spam/junk folder in case this email is directed there.

If you would like to learn more about Seesaw and how we use it at DBIS, please do attend our short online information session on Friday 17th September at 9.30am using this Google Meet link. It is useful to have a Google account ready in order to access this meeting. During the session we will talk about how Seesaw can be used to strengthen the learning conversations between home and school and we can support you to get started with Seesaw if you need a little technical support.

We are thoroughly looking forward to compiling your child’s learning journey this year and sharing lots of special moments with you.

Kind regards
