Nursery: Welcome to Term 3

Dear Nursery Families,

We hope you all had a relaxing Spring break and the children are feeling refreshed and ready for their return to school. As you will be aware the EdB has stated that there is to be a staggered return to face to face teaching. Therefore Nursery will continue learning in our online format between the 18th of April – the 6th of May. On the 10th of May, we will be extremely excited to welcome all our Nursery friends back into our classrooms! Please see the information below regarding learning in Nursery in Term 3.

Online Learning

The online learning format will remain the same as before the Spring break. Teachers will share a weekly overview of the learning and virtual timetables via Seesaw on Tuesday at 8am. Live sessions will continue as normal, please check your class overviews as small groups may have changed. Activity packs will be available from the Early Years campus 11:30am-12:30pm on Tuesday 18th. Once Nursery students return to the school campus, our focus will need to be on teaching the class in situ and therefore we will not be in a position to continue with the current home learning programme for children who remain outside of Hong Kong, however, we will still continue our open-door policy, you are therefore welcome to contact your child’s class teacher through Ms Angel ([email protected]) if you have any questions about your child learning whilst away.

World Book Week

The first week back after the Spring Break is ‘Book Week’. The theme for this years Book Week is the Global Goals. Each day one of the daily online activities will link to the whole school book week challenges. Children are still invited to join Friday’s Google Meets dressed as their favourite book character, however, we will celebrate this face to face on the 13th of May. They can also bring their favourite book to school on this day to share with their class.

Learning in Term 3:

In our new Discovery Unit for Term 3 we will be learning about “Storytelling”. We will be exploring how stories can be communicated and expressed in a variety of ways. How imagination is at the heart of creating stories, and how stories can increase our social awareness.

We will share more information about the face to face Nursey day the week of the 2nd of May.

Kind regards,

The Nursery Team
