Parent information: Year 6 transition day – Wednesday 8th June

Dear Year 6 Families,

We are very much looking forward to Year 6 students joining us for transition day on Wednesday 8th of June.

How will the day be organised?

A group of current Year 7 students (called Year 7 buddies) will collect the Year 6 students from their Primary classrooms at 8.40am and accompany them over to their first taster lesson. The Year 7 buddies will then stay with each Year 6 class the whole day, showing them from one lesson to the next.

Year 6 will take part in a number of taster lessons, including Science, Humanities and Design Technology (DT). They will also take part in a scavenger hunt around the Secondary campus; this is to help familiarise students with the Secondary layout.

As students will spend the whole day with us in Secondary, that also means that they will have break and lunch times at a slightly different time to their current schedule.

Secondary break time is 11am to 11.20am, and lunch time is 1.30pm to 2.20pm.

The day will end with an assembly lead by Head of Year 7 Karina Johnson. This will end no later than 3pm, enabling students enough time to go back to their Primary class so that they can be dismissed from there.

What equipment will students need to bring?

Students should be in their regular school uniform; there is no need for PE kits.

They should also be equipped with a pencil case, ruler, blue/black pen and a pencil.

We cannot wait to welcome Year 6 students to the Secondary school.

Kind regards,
Karina Johnson
