Reception: Welcome to Term 3

Dear Reception Families,

Welcome to Term 3! We hope you all had a relaxing Spring break and the children feel refreshed and ready to return to school. This letter contains some information about the upcoming term.

Key Dates

Please continue to check the DBIS Calendar on the Hub for key dates. You can also reference the Reception Key Dates document, which will be placed on each class’s Communication Board.

Reception Families Volunteer Sign-up

Thank you to all the families who have come into class to read or share their passions, occupations and cultural celebrations. The Term 3 documents will be placed outside on your child’s Communication Board. For families unable to sign up in person who wish to do so, please contact your child’s class teacher to express your interest.

Reading and Library

New reading and library books will come home with the children in Week 1. Please read these books over the week with your child and return them to school on your allocated day. This a gentle reminder that if you do not return the reading and library book each week, we cannot provide your child with a new book.

Term 2 Learning

This term, we will be exploring our final unit of Discovery: Changes. In this unit, children will explore changes that happen in both their own lives and in the world around them. We will investigate why changes occur and use this unit as an opportunity to prepare children for their transition into EY1.

Please take a look at our Early Years Curriculum booklet to learn more about our other objectives here:

Housekeeping

Please ensure children bring the following items each day:

  • Named water bottle (please ensure no metal water bottles are brought to school)
  • Lunch box (labelled with your child’s name and class)
  • Wellies and raincoat (labelled with your child’s name and class)
  • Named plastic folders (for reading and library books) on your allocated day

It compulsory for all children wear full and correct uniform each day. Please ensure your child is equipped with all uniform items, including the correct trousers, shorts or skort and cardigan or jumper. Details of the DBIS Early Years uniform can be found on our school website. Hats must be brought to school every day as students must wear them during break and lunch; otherwise, they will be unable to play on the playground. For health and safety reasons, students with long hair must tie it back, and jewellery is not permitted.

Please continue to check the DBIS Parent Hub regularly for key information. Please take a look at DBIS Communication information here:
