School Uniform Reminders

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have been really pleased to see students responding to our expectations with uniform and coming to school in a smart and presentable manner. In order to maintain high expectations with regards to uniform, staff have been asked to remind students to remove items that do not form part of our school uniform, or to ensure they wear the correct uniform the following day.

I would like to politely remind parents of the following points so that you are able to support our expectations with regards to school uniform:

  • School shoes should be black in colour and provide adequate support for growing feet. Plain black trainers that do not have any additional markings are acceptable as part of the uniform but must be kept in a clean and smart condition. Smart navy or black sandals (which have a back strap to secure them around the back of the foot) may be worn, however please note, students will not be able to participate in activities such as woodwork in sandals.
  • On PE days, students can wear full PE kit all day. Trainers may be of any colour as long as they are suitable for physical activity. For swimming, we recommend young children wear the shorts and rash top option to make changing and trips to the toilet more manageable.
  • The only jewellery that is acceptable as part of our school uniform is a single pair of stud earrings and a plain watch that is free from any lights or sounds that may distract others. Children in EYFS and Primary are not allowed to wear smart watches to school.
  • Mobile phones are not permitted to be used by children in EYFS and Primary. If you choose to allow your child to bring a phone to school, it must be switched off and kept in their bag throughout the day at your own risk – we cannot guarantee the safe keeping of mobile phones.
  • Hair should be of a natural colour. Bright and unnatural coloured hair dye is not part of our school uniform.
  • Children who have hair that is longer than shoulder length should tie this back for health, safety and hygiene reasons. Hair ties should be plain and ideally blue or white in colour to match our school uniform. Brightly coloured and large hair accessories are not part of our school uniform.
  • All students are required to wear a hat when they go out to play or participate in PE lessons outside. We strongly recommend naming your child’s hat.

Our staff have been asked to be diligent in enforcing our expectations with regard to school uniform; your support in ensuring our students take pride in their uniform and adhere to these expectations is much appreciated.

Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher if you have any questions regarding our school uniform.

Best wishes,

Hannah Tait
