School Uniform Reminders

Dear Parents,

Our group of enthusiastic Student Councillors care deeply about our school and are extremely proud of being DBIS students. Recently, however, they believe we could all be doing a little better in adhering to school uniform expectations.

With this in mind, they have asked me to ask you for help!

With the recent change in weather, they are noticing more children coming into school wearing non-uniform items. All students at Discovery Bay International School are required to wear the compulsory school uniform when attending school or when participating in a school-organised event outside normal school hours. A complete list of the items needed for school uniform can be found on the Parent Hub (HERE).

Student Council Guidance:

  • Only school jumpers, jackets or hoodies should be worn in school when the weather is cold. Wearing long-sleeved t-shirts underneath school uniform is not permitted.
  • Only stud earrings and watches are considered as part of the uniform, meaning that other jewellery items, including wrist bands, bracelets and necklaces are not allowed.
  • Primary children do not need to bring smart watches into school. We ask that these remain at home.
  • Children with shoulder-length or longer hair must have their hair tied up with plain or navy hair ties. Students are not permitted to wear additional hair accessories.
  • Hair must be natural in colour. Non-natural-coloured hair (blue, red, green etc.) is not permitted.
  • Children should not come into school wearing nail varnish, makeup or temporary tattoos.
  • School shoes must be completely black or navy. Black trainers with black soles and no coloured logos are now acceptable school shoes. Please note that black converse shoes or boots are not acceptable school shoes.

As a reminder, the school uniform shop is open during term time every Tuesday and Thursday morning between 8.15am and 12pm for families wanting to purchase additional school uniform items.

We are all extremely proud of our school, and I am sure that you will take time to support your children in taking pride in their appearance and achieving these uniform expectations.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support.
