Dear Parents of Year 6 Students,
The staff of the Department of Health will come to our school on Monday, February 1, 2021 to administer a vaccination with Combined Diphtheria, Tetanus, acellular Pertussis (reduced dose) and Inactivated Polio (dTap-IPV) to eligible Year 6 students. The Department’s Immunisation Team will also check the immunisation records of the students for any history of BCG vaccination. Those students aged 15 years or under without a history of BCG vaccination will be referred to the Chest Clinic for optional further management.
The Department of Health has advised that:
- All Year 6 students should receive the above immunisation again, even if they have received a booster dose at Year 1 or from their General Practitioner. However, if your child has received a booster dose at or after 10 years of age, he/she should not receive this immunisation.
- Students who have health problems should consult their family Doctor before receiving this vaccine.
Please read the attached documents from the School Immunisation Team carefully. These documents include a statement of purposes for the collection of personal data, further information about the immunisation and a consent/refusal form. If a consent form is completed, please bring the form and the child’s original immunisation record directly to the Medical Office before 27th January. If a refusal form is completed, please email a copy to [email protected]. If you have any queries about the immunisation then please contact the School Immunisation Team at 2615 8584 or 2615 8567 during office hours.
This vaccination is a parental option. Although our Health and First Aid Coordinators support our students, some students who are particularly fearful may feel more comfortable with an individual visit to their family Doctor.
