Welcome Back Year 9

Dear Parents,

Welcome back! We are thrilled to be able to welcome students back onto the school campus to embark upon the final term of the academic year face to face. We hope that you all had a restful Easter break and are ready for classrooms full of excitement and collaborative learning, which is the perfect start to our final term.

Celebrations of achievements in Term 2

Congratulations to David Sun and Aurora Sun, who received certificates in the Global Chinese Writing Competition for Young Writers.

1:1 Tutoring

1:1 tutoring will continue starting Tuesday 3rd May, and your child’s tutor will  inform them when to attend. This provides an opportunity for the tutor to discuss any difficulties, provide support or just get to know their tutees better.

House Events

With the level of restrictions that have been in place, we have had to get creative with the House events. A number of competitions took place last term on a Wednesday morning and will continue this term with the Shadow House Captains stepping in to help run these once the Year 11 House Captains have started study leave. We hope that over the coming months we can develop more House Event opportunities for all students.

Review of target setting

The start of the term is also a great opportunity to review the student-led SMART targets. Building on what they achieved last term is important, and by setting their own targets, students tend to be more motivated to strive towards them. It is important that these are realistic, and teachers will be discussing them with Y9 students in the coming weeks.

Lunch arrangements

To continue to accommodate the EdB’s requirements regarding students’ eating patterns at lunchtime, we will have to return to having two sittings, with set year groups having their lunch at certain times. There will, however, be some changes to our previous arrangements.

The arrangements for lunch will be as follows:

  • The first lunchtime sitting will be for students in Years 7, 9 and 10 and will run from 1.30pm to 1.50pm.

Eating bubbles will be kept as small as possible. The canteen will be open for students who order meals. Unfortunately we cannot, at this time, accept hot food deliveries from home.

Uniform/hair reminder

I would like to take this opportunity to remind all students of the expectations of uniform. Particular reminders are that students have plain black school shoes and keep their hair as one, natural colour.

Home Learning

With regard to home learning, we will be continuing with our regular system and schedule that is posted on the Google Classroom.
