Y5 Camp – Final Information

Dear Year 5 Families,

As the Year 5  Camp fast approaches, please find some final information and reminders below.

Timings

Wednesday 06.08.24 – Departing DBIS at 9.15am

Please can children come to school dressed in their PE kits. Year 5 classrooms will be open from 8.15am.  Children are to drop their overnight bags in the covered area. Their class will be clearly signposted, and additional adults will be there to help with this.

Once children have dropped off their bags, they can go up to their classroom to be registered. We will have some time in the classroom to discuss the day ahead before we start boarding buses at approximately 9am.

Friday 08.08.24 – Returning to DBIS at 4pm – 4.15pm

The children will be returning by bus from Pui O, leaving at 3.30pm. With traffic taken into consideration, we predict to be at DBIS between 4pm and 4.15pm. We will inform class parents of an updated ETA if it is different to what is anticipated. The children will be very excited to see you after their adventures, so please try and be there for their arrival.

Packing

Lunch on Day 1: The children must bring their own lunch and snack on day 1. Please ensure this is packed within their day bag on the morning of Wednesday 6th March, along with a 1-litre, reusable bottle of water. Every meal from then on will be provided by Treasure Island Group (TIG).

Packing list – please see the attached packing list from Treasure Island Group HERE

All items must be clearly labelled with your child’s name. Children should pack their bags with you, with their clothes in clearly labelled bags for dry and wet activities. Packing together is an important part of the process as children need to know where to find things within their bag.

They will need:

  • two sets of wet clothes – clearly labelled “wet clothes” in separate zip lock bags
  • two sets of dry clothes – clearly labelled as “dry clothes” in separate zip lock bags

Please ensure that your child’s main luggage bag can be carried/wheeled by them independently.

No Electronics: Several students have expressed that they intend to bring electronic items such as phones, iPads, smart watches and cameras.  Please ensure that none of these are packed for this camp as they pose a huge safeguarding issue. Any items like these brought to camp will be looked after by the staff and handed back to parents when we return to DBIS.

Emergency Contact

In case of family emergency: On the extremely rare occasion that a family needs to contact their child whilst on camp, a member of staff will have a DBIS phone with them at all times. The contact details for this phone are:

(+852) 4679 3301

This number is only to be called in extreme cases.

Medicines:

Any medicines that are bought to camp by the children need to be in a clearly labelled zip lock bag and handed to your child’s class teacher on or before Wednesday 6th March. These medicines will then be looked after and administered by our school nurse, Kate Yarnall.

Camp Presentation: If you wish to look through the presentation slides again, they can be found here:

Activity Groups and Rooms: The children will find out who is in their activity group and who their roommates will be on the day of the camp. Please assure your child that we have spent a great deal of time ensuring that the children will be happy with their groups so that they will have a truly memorable camp.

We are very much looking forward to an action-packed, fun-filled camp with the students.

Kind Regards

The Year 5 Team
