Year 4 Camp Information

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We write to you with exciting news: the children in Year 4 will be participating in their first overnight camp. We are highly excited by this as it is the first time in recent years that we have been able to run a camp for our students.

Accommodation

The two-night camp will take place from Monday 27th March to Wednesday 29th March in Mui Wo at the Jockey Club Silvermine Bay Camp.

The children will sleep in residential dormitories of eight children per room. We will be asking for children to request chosen friends nearer the time of the camp. Although we cannot guarantee that they will be with all of their friends, we can guarantee that they will be with at least one.

Transport arrangements

Children will arrive at school on Monday 27th March by 8.15 am. After registering, we will take a bus to Mui Wo. There will be a bus to return to DBIS on Wednesday 29th of March, and the children will arrive back at 4.15 pm. Please ensure that someone is available to pick your child or children up from DBIS at this time as the children will be very excited to see you.

COVID regulations, vaccine pass and RAT testing

There are currently no COVID regulations required as a school. At the camp, the children do not need to take a daily RAT and there are no other requirements, apart from children wearing a mask when they are not eating, drinking or engaging in any kind of physical activities. It is advisable that children bring their own hand sanitiser for general hygiene purposes.

Cost

The total cost of the camp will be HK$4,000. This includes all transport, accommodation, activities, 2x breakfasts, 2x lunches and 2x dinners. Please settle your payment on or before Monday 27th February. Payment can be made in the form of a cheque or bank transfer to our HSBC account #111-459624-001. Thereafter, please kindly email [email protected] with your bank confirmation and student name for our records.

Parents’ information briefing

We will be hosting an information session for parents on Tuesday 14th February at 5.30 pm. The meeting will last around 30 minutes and will be held in the Globe Theatre. For those who cannot attend, we will send out a copy of the slides containing all of the information.

During the meeting, we will be sharing more information about the accommodation at the camp and the schedule of activities that the children will take part in. There will also be information about the transportation arrangements, food and timings of departure from/arrival back to DBIS. If you have any specific questions that you would like to be addressed, outside of those listed above, please email your class teacher. After the information session, a Jotform will be sent to ask any other questions that you may have.

Camps have always been such an integral part of our Experiential Curriculum at DBIS as they provide children with an opportunity to gain more independence, create deeper bonds with friends, build self-esteem and confidence and also have a great deal of fun. We are very much looking forward to taking your child on their much-anticipated first DBIS Camp!

Kind regards,

The Year 4 Team
