Dear Parents and Guardians,
The PE department would like to welcome DBIS students in Years 5 and Year 6 to attend the trials for the upcoming Primary FOBISIA Games. The FOBISIA Games is a prestigious sporting competition between affiliated British International Schools in Asia. The FOBISIA Games began for the purpose of uniting schools through sport, allowing participating students to make friends. Therefore, the FOBISIA Games is known as the ‘Friendly Games’.
Over fifty participating FOBISIA schools are placed into groups to compete with one another at a central location. Our school attends three games competitions each year; these are U15, U13, and U11 (Primary). The games are being held near Bangkok, Thailand at the Pattana Country Club and Resort. Teams attending the games will stay at the resort, and all of the competition takes place on site. This is an exciting opportunity for international competition, in an event that DBIS has enjoyed a proud history.
Date: Thursday 23rd May – Monday 27th MayÂ

Events: Swimming, Athletics, Tee Ball and Football – all students selected compete in all events
Selection Process: Trials in all four sports to select an all-round team
Cost: Estimated. HK$8,400* (includes flights, accommodation and meals – all booked by the school)

* Please note the price is an estimation at this stage. It will be dependent on the hotel costs invoiced to us by FOBISIA, and flight costs.Â
Parents and extended family are welcome to attend the games to support selected students; however, please note that their travel should be independent of the school group. Furthermore, they will be required to make their own accommodation arrangements off site from the games venue.
The Selection Process
We would like to invite all interested students from Year 5 and Year 6 to trial for the 2024 Primary FOBISIA Team. We are looking for all-round athletes as well as specialists in each discipline. We do expect the selected students to participate in all of the four sports: Athletics, Swimming, Football and Tee ball. Every team member will be expected to commit to training twice a week and to keep up with their academic work. The trials will be held during the first week back after Christmas (week commencing Monday 8th January 2024, when no other ECAs are running, so we have full use of facilities and staff. Students will need to attend all of the trials to be considered.Â
