Year 8 Welcome Letter
Dear Parents,Â
Welcome back everyone! I trust that over the summer break you all got to spend precious time with your families and loved ones, had lots of fun creating memories for years to come and most importantly, got the chance to relax after a hectic first year in helping your child immerse themselves into Secondary School life.
I know I speak on behalf of the Year 8 team in saying that we were immensely proud of all that the cohort have contributed to and achieved in such a short space of time in the Secondary School. If students haven’t had the chance to, I would recommend taking some time to reflect on and acknowledge what they achieved last year.
Last year this cohort definitely had what we refer to in our Year group as having the ‘Standards and Vibe’. This will continue to be a theme throughout the academic year. Standards being the ability to meet and adhere to the high expectations of themselves and the school. Vibe referring to each students’ wellbeing and the way in which they interact around school, including the presence they project to other students. These elements will strengthen the culture within our year group for many years to come.
Year 8 Week Without Walls announcement:
Over the past few weeks Mr White and I have been looking at how we make WWW more worthwhile for all students. This has resulted in a few amendments being made to the planned and previously shared itinerary. We are really excited by the opportunities these changes will provide to each and every Year 8 student.
In order to avoid any confusion or information being misinterpreted, I would like to invite all parents to an information evening on Monday, September 9th to share information on each aspect of the trip. This will take place in the globe on the Main Campus from 6pm – 6:30pm however we will also be available until 7pm to answer any specific questions you may have regarding the trip.
If you’re unable to attend this information, all information will be shared on the DBIS Hub immediately afterwards in a PDF. This will summarise the trip and payment details.
